| Black-Winged Stilt Reflection |
The lakes and reservoirs have numerous Stilts this time of year, with their elegant long red legs, black-and-white bodies, and long beaks. They stay in the shallow waters, constantly feeding off tiny creatures they pick out from the water.
What do I like about this photo? The elegant bird, with the beautiful reflection. The color of the water adds a lot to the photo as well. The shallow depth of field (using the lens at the most open aperture) makes the subject stand out and the water mostly blurred out,
What would I want to improve? I could use an even shallower depth of field for this photo, but don't have such a lens. Getting lower would have resulted in a more impressive reflection. Unfortunately, that wasn't really an option since I was hiding behind a few bushes so had to have the lens above them to avoid blocking the view...
