| Hoopoe - our National Bird |
The Hoopoe is the national bird of Israel. Unfortunately, it's increasingly harder to actually meet one since their habitat is being taken over by other species that were "imported" into Israel, mostly the Mynas. This photo shows a Hoopoe I met the other day, catching some food.
What do I like about this photo? The Hoopoe was close enough that I managed to fill the frame with her. No cropping necessary. Also, the green background really makes the colors of the bird stand out.
What would I want to improve? The background is a bit too noisy for my liking, stealing some attention from the Hoopoe. A lower point of view would have mitigated that, and potentially provided a more impressive photo. Unfortunately I was in a car, and did not want to scare the bird off by opening the door, so that's as low as I could go.
