Crane in Flight |
The Hula valley in Israel is a preferred destination for Cranes every winter. This year over 57,000 were counted there! This photo shows this huge magnificent bird in all its glory while in flight. Note the red eye, the strong build, and the extended neck in flight. The neck distinguishes the cranes from the egrets - the egrets fold their necks when they fly.
What do I like about this photo? The majestic bird is showing all of her wings. The amount of details is awesome, you can zoom right into the eye. The background, while blurred out (I used an open aperture to have a shallow depth of field), is nonetheless interesting.
What would I want to improve? A little more open space to the right of the Crane would have improved this photo, giving it "more room" to fly to. Unfortunately I did not catch the Crane with as much open space as I wanted to the right, so that was not an option when editing the photo. An open beak (while making their trademark sound) would have also made this photo more interesting.
