Cranes in the Fog |
This day started our really early - 5:30, before sunrise. We drove to a spot where we will be able to observe the cranes waking up. Then the fog came. That was a little disappointing at first, but then it cleared up somewhat so we were able to take some interesting photos of the birds in the fog. This is one of my favorites: a few cranes taking flight, preparing for landing, with a huge group of cranes on the ground, fading into the fog. Note the huge amount of cranes on the ground - over 57000 of them were counted this year!
What do I like about this photo? The fog makes everything appear magical. The cranes on the ground appear to go on without end, as they're fading into the fog. The cranes in the air are even better, seemingly showing various stages of landing at the same time. I couldn't have directed this better myself - nature is the most impressive artist of all!
What would I want to improve? If the sun would have been lower at this hour everything would have been painted orange, which would have been huge. Apart from that - not much! I'm happy.
