Officially the national bird of Israel, the Hoopoe is an elegant bird that's very good at catching insects using her long, thin, beak. Here we have a Hoopoe from close by, so we can observe a large number of details on this beautiful bird.
What do I like about this photo? The huge amount of details - this photo did not need any cropping. I used a low angle of view for dramatic effect. I used an open aperture to have a shallow depth of field, so the Hoopoe is shard but the background is blurred out, to make the Hoopoe stand out. The glitter in the eye upgrades the photo a little, as well.
What would I want to improve? An even lower angle of view would have been preferable. Also, eye contact would have helped.
