Heron Fishing - moment I |
I was observing this beautiful Heron fishing, and managed to grab a photo of the exact moment when it lunges its head forward into the water. A split second later it emerged with a tiny fish. That photo will be on display tomorrow :)
What do I like about this photo? The incredible moment, with the neck fully extended, the feathers flying up, and the head in the water. Nature at its best! I used a fast shutter speed (1/2500 of a second) to freeze the action, so the Heron is sharp. I used an open aperture to create a shallow depth of field, so the Heron is in focus and the background is blurred.
What would I want to improve? A faster shutter speed might have been called for, since the movement was so quick some of the feathers are not sharp enough to my liking.
