Heron Fishing - moment II |
Continuing the story from yesterday, we can see the Heron indeed managed to pull a tiny fish from the waters. You can observe the water trail left in the air as the Heron quickly pulls its neck back.
What do I like about this photo? The incredible moment, with the caught fish at the tip of the beak, and the water trail in the air. Nature at its best! I used a fast shutter speed (1/2500 of a second) to freeze the action, so the Heron is sharp. I used an open aperture to create a shallow depth of field, so the Heron is in focus and the background is blurred.
What would I want to improve? A faster shutter speed might have been called for, since the movement was so quick some of the feathers are not sharp enough to my liking.
