I was waiting at a spot liked by the Kingfishers to grab some photos of them taking fish out of the water, when I suddenly noticed movement to my left. A Mongoose was testing the waters, unaware that I was actually waiting for the Kingfishers and they tend to be scared of him. I was more than happy to take a photo of this beautiful mammal, however!
What do I like about this photo? There's lots of details - usually I can't get this close to Mongooses. The water in the background provides some nice color to the photo, with good contrast to the Mongoose.
What would I want to improve? Eye contact would have been awesome, and would have upgraded this photo. The leaves in the foreground that hide parts of the Mongoose body also add some disturbance. I would also have liked to get the full tail in the frame.
