| Butterfly and Flower |
The Cosmopolitan (as it's called in the US), or the Painted Lady (as it's called elsewhere) is a beautiful large butterfly who migrates through Israel every year. This year we saw a huge migration, some 2 billion of these beauties made it through here. Here we have a photo of this magnificent butterfly on a yellow flower - the colors are striking and the amount of detail (zoom in) is wonderful.
What do I like about this photo? The pose, the color combinations, and the amount of details. I used an open aperture to create a shallow depth of field, so the butterfly and the flower are in focus but the background is blurred out. The background, being dark green, compliments the overall composition very nicely as well.
What would I want to improve? Not much, actually. For the story I wanted to tell this photo pretty much nails it. A lower angle of view might have been preferable, on second thought.
