| Euroasian Jay Portrait |
We have numerous Euroasian Jays in our garden, and they're such a treat. With their apparent "mustache" and intelligent looks, it's always a pleasure to meet one. Little known fact - they can simulate the sounds of other animals - the other day I heard a cat meowing from a tree above me, and looking up I saw that it wasn't a cat at all - it was a Jay making the sounds, probably to scare away a Raven that was approaching.
What do I like about this photo? The nice portrait pose for the Jay. The beautiful background, with the light shining through the trees creating incredible bokeh (the circles of light are called "bokeh" by us photographers).
What would I want to improve? The Jay is standing on a sign-post. Something nature, like a tree stem or a branch would have been much preferable, of course!
