| Incredible Colors of Spring |
With the right lighting, the colors of spring really come to life. Here we can see what back-lighting (when the sun is behind the subject) and a dark background can do. The flowers, being somewhat translucent, light up. More opaque elements (like the leaves and the stem) get a glowing outline.
What do I like about this photo? The lighting, obviously :) The color combination is wonderful. I used an open aperture to create a shallow depth of field, so the flowers and leaves are in focus but the background is blurred out. This really makes the subject stand out in the photo.
What would I want to improve? Getting the full flower to the right into the photo would have created a slightly more balanced and interesting composition, I believe.
