| Making the Next Generation |
Here we have a couple of the beautiful European Bee-Eaters caught in the act of creating the next generation. I'm all for that - we'll have more of them next year!
What do I like about this photo? The beautiful and interesting pose, involving two beautiful birds. There's a large amount of detail, as well. I used an open aperture (f/6.3 - the most open my lens supports at the 400mm focal length that I used) to create a shallow depth of field, so the birds are in focus but the background blurs out, to draw attention to the subjects. The light sparkle in the eye of the female also adds to the photo.
What would I want to improve? The background is somewhat boring (plain sky) and also somewhat noisy. A more blurry background of a more interesting color (green?) would be a very welcome upgrade to this photo.
