Dragonfly in the Sun |
The sun has been merciless the last few days. Being outside was not very pleasant. Apparently, some tend to disagree - the dragonflies are happily flying around with their beautiful colors and impressive control in the air. In this photo I managed to catch one standing with the sun shining through its beautiful wings, on an interesting branch with a tiny flower. Lucky me!
What do I like about this photo? The composition works great - the diagonal branch with the diagonals created by the dragonfly are awesome, and the tiny white flower caps this all up. The background is interesting and of good color. The wings shining in the sun are beautiful. I closed down the aperture (f/16) to have the wings entirely in focus, even though they extend to the front and back of the dragonfly. The background is still blurred out because it was much further away from the dragonfly, making the subject stand out really well in this photo. There's also quite a bit of details to be seen.
What would I want to change? Not a whole lot, actually. Perhaps being a bit closer would have allowed me to get a bit more details...
